Hunt says that he loves the “party atmosphere” and the “barbecue summertime outside feeling” of huge outdoor Amphitheatre gigs. “I think for our show, it lands best in that environment, and having the folks on the lawn who come out, you know, a lot of them were there for the good time, you know, and a lot of them are there for us specifically, hopefully, but there is sort of a whole ecosystem going on the lawn that’s got its own thing, but it’s infectious for the whole deal… It’s hard to top that amphitheater feel.”
The old Outskirts Tour 2023 is still being wrapped up, and already the Locked Up Tour for summer 2024 is getting announced! The 20-city venture will see Sam Hunt talk hit way out of the slammer this summer starting in Bend, Oregon this June, with the iron bars finally clanging shut by September in London, Ontario. Both Russel Dickerson and George Birge will open at all the U.S. dates, meanwhile, Dalton Dover provides support in Canada.
The summer Locked Up Tour 2024 is named for his upcoming EP, Locked Up, which will arrive in early April. After years of dropping individual tracks. “Why not just put them all at once instead of spreading it out for another two to three months?,” Hunt decided to release a new project that includes two fan favorite singles, and two never heard before tracks. The project features the unheard tracks, "Country House," and "Last Hurrah," plus, the singles, his most-recent radio hit, "Outskirts," and the brand-new single, "Locked Up." The last track comes with a new Video, which you can watch down below, and is a Johnny Cash-inspired music video featuring Hunt's wife Hannah and is autobiographical in nature. The song was co-written with Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, Jerry Flowers and Zach Crowell and is a tribute to Hunt's hard-to-love ways and Hannah's unwavering patience with him.
Sam Hunt clearly takes a long time to deal with things. It was way back in November 2019 that he was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee for DUI offenses. But it wasn't until much later, in August 2021, that he was finally found guilty of his DUI charge. His driver's license was suspended for one year, and he was sentenced to a suspended jail period of 11 months and 29 days, but had to serve 48 hours of time.
